2016 Cabernet Franc

2016 Cabernet Franc

WELCOME BACK FRANC!

The 2016 North Coast Cabernet Franc is here and this wine displays a deep ruby garnet color and the familiar floral aromas of our stunning 2010, 2012, and 2013 vintages. This wine just might be your new favorite!  It will be great paired with a medium rare bone in ribeye, a Tuesday evening casual pasta meal, mild to medium cheeses, or simply put, just enjoy it by the glass!  Cheers!

Dark cherry and vanilla with toasty notes of spice and caramel. A floral nose with blackberry combines with the cigar box and spice to complement well rounded tannins. An elegant palate with nice structure, balance and finish. Jim’s intent with our 2016 Cabernet Franc was to showcase the amazing fruit from our neighbors just a few miles to the north in the Suisun Valley and the outstanding quality and consistency of the fruit that is grown there.  The tannins in our 2016 vintage are supple yet firm courtesy of the medium toast French Oak barrels and 29 a month aging protocol.  It must be said that whole berry fermentation which took place over a 17 day period in October 2016 has added a softness while providing the depth of deep ruby garnet color.  Medium bodied but full of flavors, you would swear this is a valley floor Napa wine.  The Franc was rounded out with lovely Cabernet Sauvignon from Suisun Valley and from the warmer AVA in Clarksburg. This wine is a delight for your palate with a layered structure and near perfect acid balance.

Our Suisun Valley North Coast Cabernet Franc is designed to pair as well with a humble pasta dish as with most most grilled meats.  This is delicious wine to serve friends by the glass and in our opinion, pairs very well on almost any dinner table!  Just 256 cases produced!
